Employers can host a group of preselected students at their company to meet with their teams, help students learn more about work at their organization, and allow them to see what it is like to be an intern or employee at their company. Site visits are a great opportunity for Gaucho students to learn, explore, and connect with employers, and site visit hosts have the opportunity to create an experience like no other for UCSB students!
Benefits:
- Site Visits are an invaluable experience for students to engage with employers in an experiential learning environment!
- Host a group of pre-selected students at your company to meet with your teams, to help students learn more about work at your organization, and help them see what it is like to be an intern or employee at your organization.
- Students will enjoy developing a deeper perspective on each of the companies they visit, as well as the general industry, through tours, networking breakfast/lunches, and talks with professionals and executives.
- They will gain a better understanding of the type of career they want in the future. They also will love to talk with Gaucho Alumni at each company, which will show them how strong and supportive the Gaucho family is.
- Site visits are a great opportunity for students to learn, explore, and connect with employers. As a site visit host, you can create an experience like no other for UCSB students!
How it Works:
A typical site visit includes a tour, presentation, and an interactive activity. Each site visit agenda depends on each host's schedule and resources. We encourage our employer hosts to be creative and engaging! Each site visit host receives a resume book of the student attendees after the event.
Student Selection
Site visits are a great opportunity for UCSB students to learn, explore and connect with employers. We follow a process that is on a first-come, first-serve basis built on student interest. We believe that this makes site visits the best experience for both students and employer hosts.
Location Tour
- A tour can be a walk-through of your office, worksite, or lab.
- The goal of the tour is to show students what your workplace is like. It is also a good way to demonstrate your company culture.
- Employers are encouraged to show students parts of your office that are not well-known, and incorporate fun, behind-the-scenes information.
Presentation
- Site visit presentations can be a company overview, but we encourage site visit hosts to be creative to keep students engaged.
- A presentation can include a product demo, a panel of professionals talking about their different roles, new hires/graduates discussing their experiences, executive leadership delivering a motivational speech, or a seasoned professional delivering a Technical Talk.
- We recommend leaving ample time for questions after the presentation.
Interactive Element
- The most valuable portion of site visits for our students is the interactive element, and it is what sets site visits apart from a typical information session.
- Interactive activities usually (but not always) follow the presentation and allow students to have one-on-one or small group interactions with your employees.
- This can be a networking hour over breakfast/lunch, or breakout room session with students and alumni, full-time employees/interns, new grads, or leadership.
Cost
- "FREE" for the upcoming 24-25 school year

Recruit Virtually
COVID-19 challenged all of us to come up with new and different ways to recruit students and virtual recruiting is here to stay. So, keeping and maintaining a virtual relationship with UCSB is a smart recruiting strategy.
Having a robust presence on Handshake transcends in-person and virtual recruiting and is the first step in maintaining an electronic connection with UCSB students. Every student has access to Handshake and this is the first place they go when looking for opportunities. Make sure to keep your postings active! Click HERE for directions on how to register for a Handshake user account and post positions.
Connect seamlessly with UCSB students anywhere in the world! Use your preferred video conferencing platform (Zoom, Skype, Microsoft Teams, etc.) to effortlessly live-stream your event to UCSB students. Information sessions are vital for information sharing and brand building on campus and these virtual sessions have broken down geographic challenges to recruiting students. Because you can host one from your office/remote workspace and you can invite multiple schools to participate, virtual sessions are essential to recruiting success.
An email blast is an easy and effective way to get your opportunity in front of qualified and interested students. An email blast is a message we craft specifically for your program or posting, working collaboratively with you to create the message and identify students based on certain qualifications. We streamline the application process, including links to your job(s) and carefully schedule the timing of delivery for maximum exposure. See "Marketing Buffet" under Recruit On-Campus for more info.
