Around campus, there are many resources which provide you with specialized resources for your time at UCSB and your career afterwards. Make sure that you remain informed and involved while you are here, and consider taking advantage of some of these in order to optimize your career development.
- GradPost is the centralized source of information for you to stay up-to-date on campus resources, workshops, and more opportunities for all graduate students and postdocs.
- Graduate Student Resource Center is the central hub for graduate students to gain support with job search documents, funding applications, writing and editing support, and professional development opportunities. The GSRC is part of UCSB Graduate Division and hosts many workshops, events, and direct advising for graduate students including Grad Slam, Graduate Writers’ Room, Lunch & Learn, and Beyond Academia.
- Graduate Academic Advising is offered through UCSB’s graduate division. For help understanding transferring degrees, program requirements beyond what your department can answer, please consider reaching out to Academic Advising services. The Graduate Division also has an academic counselor, who is available to meet one-on-one with students to determine academic goals, conflict resolution, time management, and more.
- Center for Science and Engineering Partnerships (CSEP) provides professional development seminars and workshops for graduate students in STEM fields. Incredibly valuable programming and events are run through this center, including the Individualized Professional Skills Program and the Professional Development Series.
- Bren Career Development Program is a highly regarded and well-respected center that helps Bren master’s and Ph.D. students become marketable for both short-term and long-term success. Visit their website for more details and check out BrenConnect.
- Career Development with Technology and Management Program maintains relationships with an extensive list of companies for the purpose of matching student interests with corporate needs. Additionally, programs like the New Venture Competition help students with a business mindset.
- Gaucho Network, which was launched by UCSB Alumni, is a free online career networking platform used to facilitate mentoring, networking, and professional opportunities.
