What service would you highly recommend students utilize from Career Services?
I would recommend students use Vault. There is so much valuable career information in there and its all free and ready to utilize from anywhere with internet access.

What makes your current job as a career peer advisor special for you?
I love interacting with students and helping them with their questions because it keeps me on my toes and thinking about my future. Now that I am a senior, I am especially grateful to be working in a place that focuses on helping students recognize their goals and work towards them.

What do you like most about working for Career Services?
This is my third year working as a career peer advisor. Through the years I’ve gotten to know the career services staff and become especially close to a few of the counselors and peer advisors. I enjoy coming to work because I not only am I able to help students, I am also able to work with close friends who I can turn to for career as well as personal advice. My familiarity and level of exposure to career services over the past 2 years makes it an enjoyable place to work.

What is your major and why did you choose this area to study?
I am a biopsychology major. I came to UCSB as a biopsychology major because I was pre-med and wanted to major in a science so that I could meet the pre-med requirements. While I still enjoy the major, If I could do it again, I would major in Global Studies. But, I felt that I came to this realization too late so I settled for the minor in Global Peace and Security instead, and I am enjoying it very much.

After graduation, what is your career goal?
Immediately after graduation, I’m thinking of either traveling or doing Americorps. Eventually, I would like to attend graduate school.

Anything else you would like to share with students?
Everyone at career services is super friendly and nice. We want to help you so don’t hesitate to ask us any questions you may have.
