What service would you highly recommend students utilize from Career Services?
Drop-in Advising is something that all students should take advantage of as the counselors have a plethora of knowledge and can help out with just about any questions students have about future careers and resumes. The counselors are friendly and don’t bite, so be sure to stop by and chat with them and secure some advice from them that will help out with any questions you might have.

What makes your current job as a career peer advisor special for you?
A lot of the students that stop by are in the same position that I was in a while ago. Career Services was able to help me out then and I want to be able to provide the same service back. It helps that everyone working here is amazingly fantastic and you just can’t ask for better coworkers.

What is your major and why did you choose this area to study?
I’m an Aquatic Biology major because I love working and playing in the environment and want to understand the whole ecosystem. But I also want to learn how to protect it and so I’m taking a bunch of environmental studies classes to understand the policies, laws, and history that defines conservation. This will allow me to have different perspectives through understanding how the environment operates on a global scale and knowing ways to protect it.

After graduation, what is your career goal?
At this moment, I want to help make a difference and volunteer my time in working with conservation agencies and learning new skills that will make my environmental conservation background stronger. This way I will be an asset to an agency and can assist them in specialized projects that I will hopefully have the skills for.

Anything else you would like to share with students?
Don’t be shy! Just stop on by and ask any questions you might have. If the peers can’t answer it, we’ll direct you to a counselor who will be able to so you’ll win either way.
