For Graduate Students!
A new assessment tool to assist you in seeking non-academic employment!

Making the transition from the ivory tower to a tower of industry can be especially daunting for graduate students. While you are an expert in your own field and are able to masterfully describe your work and strengths in the language of the academy, making the transition into business, industry, the government, non-profits, and NGO’s may leave you feeling at a loss to describe your background in non-academic language. This assessment provides the tools and vocabulary to assist with that transition.

An integrated approach to business career self-assessment, CareerLeader® is the original program first launched in April 1998. Used by over 260 top schools and corporations worldwide to help guide their students' and employees' careers, it is based on the authors’ collective 30+ years of experience in the business career development field (both at Harvard Business School and in private consulting endeavors).

The program itself is 100% online. You will take the assessments online, and can review your individual results as soon as your assessments are complete. You’ll have to finish all three assessments in order to look over your report, which integrates data from all three. You are also able to solicit feedback from others, who know you well, who can comment on their perceptions of your abilities.

How It Works
Much of the information provided in CareerLeader is available for downloading. You may review it at your leisure 'off-line' and can save it for future reference long after you graduate.

How You Can Benefit
In addition to receiving information about your strongest interests and abilities, you can also learn strategies to strengthen your weaknesses, compare your results to specific career path profiles, and find resources on conducting industry research. The feedback solicitation feature may provide insight into how you’re perceived by others in a work-related setting.

Pricing
The fee is $25. Please come to the Career Resource Room at Career Services on campus, and ask to fill out a BARC charge card. Your name will be forwarded to CareerLeader and you will be able to take the assessment within 1 working day.

How to Sign Up
Come into Career Services and tell the staff in the Career Resources Room you want to take CareerLeader. They will help you register, and you will receive registration confirmation and instructions for taking the test via emial within one working day.
